Pico Mágina y Miramundos

The climb to Pico Mágina and the nearby Pico Miramundos, in the heart of the Sierra Mágina Natural Park, is one of the most outstanding mountain routes in the province of Jaén. At an altitude of 2,167 metres, Pico Mágina is the highest point in the province, making this massif one of the most significant mountain ranges in Andalusia. The climb is demanding, but the reward comes in the form of spectacular scenery and a unique experience in the heart of nature.

The route combines an initial section along a forest track with a final stretch of high-mountain trail. There is also the option of taking a detour through a pine forest, which allows you to bypass part of the track, following a path that rejoins the main route.

The route also offers examples of the traditional heritage of the mountains, such as dry-stone constructions linked to former livestock farming practices. Among these, a shepherd’s hut in the Covatillas area and a snow store near the summit stand out, recalling the ancient systems of snow storage in the mountains.
