Pliegues del Río Borosa

The course of the Borosa River, between the Fish Farm and the Cerrada de Elías, allows us to observe a varied set of folds. The structure of the Sierra del Pozo, in which the Borosa River is located, is characterized by the presence of folds and faults in the NNE-SSW direction. The general geological structure of this Sierra is controlled by two great synclines: that of the source of the Guadalquivir river and that of Cabañas.

In the initial four kilometers of the itinerary that starts from the Fish Farm, there are folds associated with those of a regional nature, whose size ranges from 1 meter to several tens of meters. These develop in Cretaceous materials of Urgonian facies and their orientation determines the course of neighboring streams, the concordant relief of the Arroyo de las Truchas valley controlled by a spectacular synclinal being especially significant. As an example of an anticline, the best fold is found in the Puente de Los Caracolillos.
