Program

In the month of May, taking advantage of the good weather, we begin to celebrate with the Day of Santa Quiteria, specifically on May 22, each neighbor takes his "hornazo", a kind of cake with a boiled egg in the center, to eat it together with friends and family in the field.

In addition, for some years now, the Pilgrimage of Santa Quiteria has been held in Santiago de la Espada, early in the morning the Pilgrimage begins from the Church of Santiago Apóstol to La Carreña, people take out their cavalry and dress in Andalusian costumes or mountains, upon arrival a mass begins in his honor and later the day of Santa Quiteria is celebrated on the river, and in the afternoon the return of Santa Quiteria to the Church is made.

The tradition of eating hornazo on the day of Santa Quiteria has been celebrated since the 16th century, in which a plague epidemic left the survivors in poverty and the council took charge of distributing a bread cake to all the neighbors.
