Serie Jurásico-Cretácico Inferior de Navalperal

, Segura de la Sierra

Navalperal

The total power of the section is more than 150 m. On some saccharoid dolomites attributed to the Lower and Middle Jurassic we find materials from the Upper Kimmeridgian; They are limestones with large gastropods and corals that end in an erosive surface with a crust of iron oxides.

This is followed by limestone, locally sandy and marl, with various levels of intercalated calcretes; these materials are brecciating and dolomitizing, giving way to fetid dolomites with abundant carbonaceous remains; all this set of materials is of the Hauterivian-Barremian age. The lower Aptian is characterized by the presence of sands, calcareous sandstones and sandy limestones with laminations and cross-stratification as well as orbitolins at various levels. Upper Aptian materials are abundant in rudists and orbitolins. The Albiense is represented by dolomites with black pebbles and rudist ghosts.
