Iglesia Parroquial de San Mateo

Calle De La Iglesia, 6. 23360, La Puerta de Segura How to get

The parish church of San Mateo was designed in 1817 by Sebastián de Azcuaga. It was a project that would replace the old medieval temple, for which it had to overcome the irregularities of the terrain and considerably expand its space, since the number of parishioners increased considerably. The church, despite its generous dimensions, was organized from a single nave, divided into two sections, with a half-barrel vault roof that discharges over transverse arches. On the outside there is a neoclassical air. The main portal is stonework. The squat-looking tower was added later.
