Information

The name of the place is due to the presence of an old monastery from the 15th century of the Order of the Augustinians first, and after the Basilios, which is linked to the existence of these springs. With the confiscation of Mendizabal it passed to agricultural uses, to this day.
The water allowed the development of orchards in the area for centuries surrounded by olive trees, vineyards and cereals. Today this source feeds several pools that serve to irrigate fruit trees, orchards and olive groves, in addition to maintaining a humid ecosystem in its environment. It is a historic watering hole for the herds of cattle and wildlife in the area.
