Information

The ecological olive grove, which has been the only one existing since the appearance of olive growing until the middle of the 20th century, has been reborn today, finding in Sierra de Segura an ideal place where we can enjoy again this humanized ecosystem, a refuge for flora and fauna, which has served the sustainable development of the Mediterranean peoples for more than 5000 years. This Ecological Olive Grove Interpretation Center is located in the Sierra de Génave Oil Mill, which tells us its history, lived in one of the most extensive protected areas in Europe, the Natural Park Sierras de Cazorla, Segura y Las Villas.

The itinerary begins in the main building and is a journey through the culture of the ecological olive grove. From the reception we can see an Andalusian patio, where the History Room of the last 10.000 years of olive growing is located. The itinerary continues to the upper floor. A mural about the ecological olive grove of the Sierra de Segura accompanies us in the background in the Room of the Agrosystem of the Olive grove, in which the importance of practicing sustainable agricultural systems, such as the ecological olive grove, is highlighted.

The following room introduces us to the different uses of the olive grove, which are varied and deeply rooted in the Mediterranean culture. Finally, the Art and Olive Tree Exhibition Room is accessed, with reproductions of works related to the olive grove and where videos about the olive grove are projected.
