Torre Mocha

23460, Peal de Becerro How to get

The Mocha tower, the other preserved from the medieval castle, is less elegant than that of the Clock. It measures about seven meters on a side, it is made of masonry arranged in some of its parts, its corners are reinforced with rope and brand, and it is finished with corner rods -beams whose ends protrude to the outside-. Its construction must have been carried out between the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries and over time, small houses were attached to it that distorted its image. In 1987 the delegation of Culture of the Junta de Andalucía, given its state of advanced deterioration, carried out a restoration by the emergency procedure directed by the architect Luis Carlos Gutiérrez Calatrava, which was exemplary in terms of its rigor and treatment: consolidation of vaults and roof construction for water evacuation, repair of exterior and interior enclosures, replacement of pieces and exterior carpentry and conditioning of the exterior and access areas.

It was declared an Asset of Cultural Interest in 1985
