Monte Aznaitín

, Jimena

Az-Naitín, (Natín in local dialect) is a mountain located in Sierra Mágina, in Jaén, Spain. The origin of the toponymy in Arabic would be Isnatin or Asnatin, and it is pointed out that it may come from its old name in Iberian as Neitin, which refers to the great Iberian god Netón, god of Thunder and fire, who according to legend lives in the Montana. It has a special visual appeal, especially seen from the east face or from the Guadalquivir valley. It has a considerable altitude, 1745 m, which allows you to see a large part of the province of Jaén.

In the Aznaitín, some typical plant endemisms of Sierra Mágina are kept. At its summit the municipalities of Jimena, Torres and Albanchez de Mágina meet, whose populations are located at its feet, as do the prehistoric caves, where the ancient settlers left their mark for posterity. Not in vain did Aznaitín permeate Antonio Machado's ward from distant Baeza and incorporated it into his poetry.
