Estrecho Los Perales
Singular places
, Cazorla
This remarkable gorge is renowned for its intriguing rock formations, while at its bottom the Valdetrillos stream rushes through a series of energetic rapids, adding its exuberant soundtrack to the landscape. Here it is easy to observe how the agile mouflon and spritely Spanish ibex make their way across the vertical rock faces, and you may even be treated to the majestic sight of golden eagles, booted eagles and griffon vultures soaring high above. At the end section of Calarillas Valley you can take in a view of the highest mountains in the park.
There are two places from where to enjoy the Strait of Perales:
- Undoubtedly a good place to observe the beauty of this Strait is the viewpoint that appears on the left bank of the road to Las Navas. It is not signposted, so you have to be careful, although you can not miss it.
- A track runs up the Valdetrillos valley that can be seen from the viewpoint. To get to it, you have to go back along the Las Navas track and take the path cut by a chain that comes out to the right. You have to cross the bridge over the stream of La Rambla. After a period of half an hour walking, we give views of the Valdetrillos stream basin from where we can see the Strait of Perales and the viewpoint to which we have previously referred.
In Cazorla, take the Sierra road (A-319) until the junction known as Empalme del Valle. Turn right onto the JF-7092 road and after passing the bridge over the Guadalquivir river (4 km from the Empalme), follow the track on the left (JF-7091). Between km 27 and 28 of the road signs is the viewpoint with views of the Strait of Perales.
