Embalse de Vadomojón

Singular places

, Alcaudete

The Vadomojón Reservoir was built in 1993, located in the river Guadajoz. It is part of the municipalities of Alcaudete (village of Noguerones) and Baena, in the province of Jaén and Córdoba respectively. It belongs to the Guadalquivir Hydrographic Confederation (Córdoba area).

The Vadamojón Reservoir was built to manage irrigation and the ecological flow of the rivers present. It is one of the most important in the Guadalquivir basin, its waters being clear, fresh and with great ecological potential. The landscape of the basin is characterized by undulating elevations with gentle slopes. Its fresh and brackish waters come, among other sources, from the Víboras and San Juan rivers.

Since its commissioning in 1997, Vadomojón has become one of the most important free fishing or competition venues both in the Sierra Sur region and in the Campiña de Baena region, in the province of Córdoba.

Vadomojón is a recent reservoir, with transparent waters capable of harboring important populations of those fish such as barbel that inhabited the waters of the Guadajoz River before the construction of the dam. Other species present are the cachuelo, the boga, the tusk, the carp, the black sea bass or the rainbow trout

In Vadomojón you can use a wide variety of fishing methods and techniques, such as coup, Bolognese, English, light casting or artificial fishing.

One of the most frequented fishing areas in Vadomojón is Caldera, which is accessed by the Víboras River.

Along with fish, there are birds such as flamingos and gray herons
