In Islamic times the town was fortified and equipped with a triple enclosure of walls. This fortification was accessed through four gates: Catena, which is the best preserved, Gontar, Mediodia or Orcera, and Puerta Nueva, which was rebuilt in the 16th century. It was declared a Picturesque Landscape and Historic-Artistic Complex together with the town. At present, it is the headquarters of an interpretation center called ´Segura de la Sierra. Border Territory 'in which you can delve into the Middle Ages, during which Segura de la Sierra was a relevant enclave.
