Castillo e Iglesia de la Purísima Concepción

Monument

Plaza de la Constitución. 23780, Lopera How to get

It is a 16th century building in the late Gothic style. The façade of the church corresponds to the Flamboyant or Elizabethan Gothic style and is made up of two large buttresses and a tri-lobed arch topped by the images of St. John, the Virgin and St. Peter. Inside the church, the ogival or ribbed vaults stand out, whose ribs are arranged in the shape of a star in the lateral naves and a rhombus in the central one. The central altarpiece is made of polychrome wood in the Baroque style (18th century). Next to the altarpiece we find the tomb of La Purísima, a Renaissance work by Juan de Reolid, dating from the year 1547. It also has a magnificent Parish Museum where we can find choral books, paintings, ornaments, sacred vessels, etc.
