Woodland Arts and Trades Visitors Centre, El Sequero

Carretera de Hellín nº 21. 23380, Siles

El Sequero de Siles is a sturdy building housing various interpretation facilities and a visitor information service, along with a small shop selling products from the park and an area for audiovisual screenings.

The rooms provide information on the traditional trades in these mountain areas, along with details on the various mushrooms found in the area and the ethnography, history and biodiversity of the region of Sierra de Segura. The building itself has been recently restored and is worth taking a closer look at, as it was originally used to prepare the pine cones whose seeds were used to repopulate these and other areas within Spain from the 1950s to the 1970s. Today you can still see part of the unusual machine which was used to carry out the complex process of extracting, selecting and drying the pine seeds.
