Torre del Homenaje

23391, Torres de Albánchez How to get

This important tower is located in the center of the village next to the church and the town hall, and dates from the 14th century. It is square and is built in masonry carved in small courses and with corners reinforced by pieces of ashlar arranged with rope and brand. The exterior enclosure is made up of a wall and four solid cubes that protect the corners. Internally, its stone is more careful and it is structured in three floors: in the lower one there is a cistern, and the upper ones are divided, by means of a central wall, into two halves, covered by pointed and very lowered barrel vaults. You ascend to the floors through an internal staircase that goes up around the tower. This keep of the old Castle has been declared a Site of Cultural Interest in 1985.
