With this trail Approved by the National Mountain Federation, you will discover the natural heritage of the municipality. Stroll along the Velillos River and discover the importance of water in a land characterized by rainfed crops. Stroll among olive trees, cereal, avenues and poplar groves and enter a unique environment discovering the districts of Ribera Alta and Ribera Baja, in which the river shaped the distribution of its population since Roman times.

The uniqueness of this linear route is that Alcalá la Real and the Vega of Granada were connected through the river, making it a strategic area of ??the Sierra Sur de Jaén, throughout its history.

The path that begins in the village of Ribera Alta, for the most part along roads and paths, near or along the banks of the Salobral stream, Palancares stream and especially along the banks of the Velillos river, which we will be forced to cross in several occasions. The source of the Cortijo del Baño will help us refresh ourselves, before taking some height to enjoy some wonderful views of the riverbed and up Ribera Alta. Through the bridge next to the Tahona, we arrive at Ribera Baja, a small district of Alcalá la Real, where the landscape is made up of hills of 800 and 900 meters covered with olive trees, and in the lower parts cereal crops. It is here where the river crosses the town from side to side, with a magnificent plain and some poplar groves or small avenues, which give it a picturesque image and a refreshing climate.
