Located in the municipality of Valdepeñas de Jaén, this specimen of Quercus faginea Lam., Representative of the autochthonous Mediterranean vegetation, is considered one of the largest in Andalusia.
The gall oak is one of the most representative trees of Mediterranean vegetation, especially in those territories with a sub-humid climate. A few kilometers from the municipality of Valdepeñas de Jaén there is a centenary specimen of this species, the Quejigo del Carbón Natural Monument.
