Program
With the procession of the Rosario de Los Hachones, the patron saint festivities of San Francisco de Paula begin, celebrated from May 3 to 6. The participants walk the streets carrying the hachones or torches made with esparto grass and fish.
As the procession passes, four lights are lit, large firewood pyres and olive branches, to which salt is added to make them crackle and impede the passage of the procession. The light of the hachones and luminaries in the darkness of the night recalls the dawn of the Dawn, in a ritual that synthesizes the character of fire as a magical-symbolic element and the Christian tradition of praying the Rosary.
