The history of this sculpture and the reason for its construction is due to the fact that in the 19th century, devotion to this image grew significantly, with the mayor D. Lucas Guillén being very devoted to it.

For this reason, and after the destruction of the religious images in 1937, it was decided by popular vote to erect this sculpture based on works such as the Cristo del Corcovado in Rio de Janeiro or the Sacred Heart of Jesus on the Cerro de los Ángeles in Madrid.

It was made by the Sales de La Carolina brothers in 1950.
