The church began its construction in the thirteenth century and was completed in the seventeenth, although the original factory has practically disappeared as a result of multiple restorations. One of the most characteristic elements is the façade, from the end of the 16th century, with a semicircular arch decorated with grotesques, medallions of Saint Peter and Saint Paul and episcopal shields, and topped by a relief of Santiago Matamoros in a niche with a triangular pediment. that contains, in turn, another relief that represents God the Father.

Its interior consists of a wide nave with sections of transverse arches, while the presbytery is covered with a barrel vault with coffered ceilings. The baroque dressing room of Cristo de la Vera Cruz stands out.
