Iglesia de la Encarnación

Plaza de la Encarnación, 2. 23750, Arjonilla How to get

It was built following the Gothic style of the early 16th century. Its plant consists of three naves separated by cruciform pillars and covered with a Mudejar roof that in the 18th century was camouflaged with false ribbed vaults. The choir and the Mannerist altarpiece were destroyed in the Civil War of 1936 and later restored. The sacristy is accessed through a Plateresque doorway. It has a pantheon and side chapels, built between the 17th and 18th centuries. The size of the tower with an octagonal structure and Mannerist design stands out, erected at the foot of the church at the beginning of the 17th century. The façade of the church is discovered behind a large round ashlar arch at the beginning of the tower. It has been declared a Historic Artistic Monument in 1983.
