In Albanchez the custom of putting the borders on the maidens continues. The borders are the fruit of the enea. They are gathered during the summer and kept in the chambers of the houses, among straws, to dry. On Carnival Sunday they take off to throw them to the girls. When peeled, they release a whitish, mellow lint that attaches to hair and clothing. It is said that the more you love a girl, the more you must throw your suitor to her face, so that on that day the streets of the village will be carpeted with the annoying fluff, in such a curious "demonstration" of love.
