Fiestas Patronales del Cristo del Mármol

last weekend of February

Plaza de le Constitucion, s/n, Cambil, Jaén, Cambil - Plaza de le Constitucion, s/n, Cambil, Jaén

Program

According to popular belief, a muleteer, in the seventeenth century, transported the canvas of a Christ to the village of El Mármol stopping in Cambil for the night. The next morning, after the Christ was veiled all night by the Cambileños, the load became so heavy that it was impossible to transport it; With this fact, the locals thought that the Christ expressed his will to remain in this beautiful town of Sierra Mágina. The devotion that the people of Cambodia profess to their patron is manifested every last weekend of February with the festivities in his honor that begin on Saturday with the transfer of the canvas from the parish church to its hermitage where, as was done before. Three centuries, the image of Christ is veiled throughout the night. The next day, the return of the image to his parish, where a solemn mass is celebrated, is the end point of the religious acts, but not of the festive atmosphere that is breathed until the last hours of Sunday.
