Throughout the festival there are several processions with the image of the patron saint through the streets of the town, in the first of them the outposts of Moors and Christians take place. There are confinements of wild cattle (the heifer of the brandy).
The first night there is an act in the main square where the queen of the parties and her bridesmaids are chosen.
Sack races, writing and drawing competitions, dance, ribbon races, donkey races, log cutting, rope pulling, cucañas, swimming competition and marathon take place from Carchelejo to Cárchel.
A floral offering is made to the patron, with bouquets provided by the town hall.
A parade of giants and big heads takes place.
The Moors and Christians show represents the following scene:
The image of the Virgin is taken after several unsuccessful attempts by the Moorish army in the procession on the 14th in the afternoon and is taken to the castle, built of wood for this purpose in the square. In the morning the Christians try to storm the castle but they are not successful, it is when the Christian king sends an embassy that discusses with the Moor about the Christian religion and the Virgin, ending with a new skirmish and the victory of the Christians. The costumes are brightly colored, highlighting those of the Christian army, which display bouquets of flowers on their hats.
The fights between the armies are also curious, with movements reminiscent of old paloteos dances.
During the presentation there are numerous shotgun shots, and at the end, the couples will pass by the Virgin's throne, still in the castle, and once at the top, with the shotgun in their hands, they will fire some shots into the air .
