Program
The streets of this beautiful town of Sierra Mágina are lined with floral rugs and the balconies are adorned with manila shawls and embroidered bedspreads to receive the Sacramented Body.
This is how Manuel Urbano Pérez Ortega describes the Corpus Christi procession in his book "Bells and rockets" Jaen Calendar of popular festivals: Procession that in our time is carried out in ways identical to the medieval or modern reproduced, adorning the streets with sedge, lavender and other herbs, if not, in the case of Cabra del Santo Cristo, carpeting the processional route with flowers, for which Manila shawls, bedspreads and other fabrics rich in embroidery are also spread on balconies and windows, elements that also appear the altars that popular hands build along the way.
As we can see in the most recent photos, everything is done in the same way as described and what was done in the first years of the last century, as we see in the photo of Dr. Cerdá –from one of the balconies of his house they throw petals on the Custody-, although the itinerary has changed and a detail that we can also appreciate in said photo, all the banners and flags of the existing brotherhoods in the town were paraded in front of the Custody.
