Hornazos

Hornazos are a traditional preparation from Bedmar y Garcíez and other areas of Jaén, especially linked to Easter. They are made with a bread dough enriched with olive oil and matalahúva, which wraps one or more whole boiled eggs before being baked.

Their decorated shape and festive character make hornazos a recipe closely linked to family celebrations and seasonal popular baking. The optional use of Sierra Mágina PDO extra virgin olive oil adds flavour and reinforces their connection with the area’s olive-growing tradition.
