ACCEDER

Sendero de la Muralla PR-A126

This circular route has its beginning in the urban area of ??Jaén, specifically it begins on the ring road, in front of nº 126. In front of this point, a road in good condition, together with an electrical transformer, ascends up the north slope of Cerro del Castillo de Santa Catalina. The steeply sloping track then turns to the right and softens, flattening as it passes through the castle wall. Once we cross the wall, we find an olive grove and the road forks. At this point we will return on the descent, since from here the circular section of the trail begins. We take the path to the right, just by the edge of the olive grove. From this flat section, you can see in order of proximity, the neighborhood of San Vicente de Paúl (below), the Barrio de la Magdalena, and the Barrio de San Juan on the right. Upon reaching the pine forest, we continue along a path descending a few meters and then slightly ascending, making our way through the pines. About 150 m. there is a crossroads that we must continue to the right. Later it passes through an (open) gate of a fence, the path crosses this fence, and leaves it, leaving later through another similar gate. Both gates are generally open.

DESCRIPTION

Without leaving the path, in front and below we find the lane of Fuente la Zarza, the forest opens up and leaves space for the olive grove. Without descending the lane, to the left, along the slope, a narrow path ascends diagonally towards the right flank of the pine forest near the olive grove. A progressive and pleasant ascent begins here. This path connects with an access lane to an olive grove. At this point, without leaving the pine forest, we go up to the left, along a short and steep section that softens and leads us first along a path and then along a track to Hospital del Neveral.

Due to the constant works in the vicinity of the Hospital and the lack of continuity of the original route of the path that used to surround the center in the back area, it is now easier to continue straight on the asphalt, thus we enter the Dr. Sagaz hospital compound , El Neveral and we crossed it until its exit. At the entrance to the road and to avoid driving on it, to the right, we take advantage of the trails in the Neveral recreational area that will take us away from road traffic. We take a narrow path to the left, over a basketball field and cross the forest track, (common section with PR-A127: Pinares del Neveral) the marked path, continues next to the valley, and later crosses it to connect with the road again, about 50 meters from the Center of Caño Quebrado. Caño Quebrado is the only source that we find in the whole route. (End of common section with PR-A127 Pinares del Neveral).

In Caño Quebrado the road to Jaén, the road from Castillo de Santa Catalina and Parador Nacional converge, with the Ctra. To Neveral Hospital, where we have already passed previously. In front of the Caño Quebrado Fountain. Just to the left of the road that goes up to the Castillo de Santa Catalina and the Parador. Take a lane that descends next to some old villas, further down and to the right continue along a path in very good condition that makes its way through the pines and that will return us again to the crossroads next to the Wall, which we return to to cross, this time in the opposite direction, to return to the beginning of the Path.
