Tradition tells that some cloth sellers came to a cave of hermits and that one of the fabrics was the image of a crucified Christ, which they gave to the anchorites. The admiration for the canvas grew among the citizens and it became a sanctuary. Valdepeñeros have moved to this area since then on the first Sunday in May to attend the procession of their Image and spend a festive day, a mixture of steely spirituality and healthy recreation, surrounded by a place of incomparable beauty.

The pilgrimage has been going on for many years and is one of the most appreciated in the entire province. Because of the dates on which it is celebrated, the first Sunday in May, they make this pilgrimage one of the most beautiful to attend. As a tradition, a mass is usually held and after this the Holy Christ is taken to his Hermitage, to then spend a beautiful and pleasant day with family or friends. Many are the groups that are organized throughout the area to organize snacks and spend a beautiful day surrounded by nature, since the place has a large amount of vegetation, water, mountains and places to camp.
