The route begins at the El Hornico centre. Leave your car in the car park at the Botanical Gardens and walk towards the old Forest House, now converted into a nature-education centre, hostel and rental accommodation. Before reaching the first building, on the right-hand side you will see a sign indicating the start of the route, and behind it an old bridlepath leading up the side of the mountain. Along the route you will come across other wooden signs pertaining to other routes, so make sure you only follow the signs that have red stripes across the top.
