Fuenmayor Trail

This is a particularly beautiful trail during the cherry blossom season, where we can enjoy this unique spectacle of nature with a walk, or just by reaching its starting point in the Fuenmayor recreational area.

Also in winter this path can be an adventure and allow us to enjoy the snow with the whole family, or be a starting point for lovers of the high mountains.
In summer, this is one of the coolest areas of the natural park, where you can enjoy our picnic in the refreshing Fuenmayor.

START POINT

The beginning of this path is in the recreational area of Fuenmayor, which is accessed by the path that starts at the end of the Paseo de San Isidoro, in the town of Torres. You have to travel 7 km from the town to the equipment.

ARRIVAL POINT

Starting from the Fuenmayor recreational area, we begin an uphill path that a kilometer later leads us to the Zurreón waterfall. Further on, this path offers us beautiful panoramic views of Torres and the landscape of crops that unfolds around this town and ends up taking us into a narrow path surrounded by cherry, persimmon and olive trees.

From this path we can easily link to the end of the Subida Puerto de la Mata trail, a hill from which we will enjoy beautiful views of the magnificent Mata Bejid pasture, completely different from those that accompanied us.

  • Collaborate to avoid fires. Do not throw cigarettes or any other object that produces combustion.
  • By consuming local products and having local businesses you will contribute to rural development.

DESCRIPTION

The path will allow us to access a wide variety of landscapes: holm oak forests, thorny scrub edges, reforestation of Aleppo and Laricio pines, olive, cherry and almond tree crops, and streams with riverbank trees. There are good views of the peaks surrounding Torres and a good number of bird species can be seen.

The path crosses the Zurreón waterfall, an attractive waterfall that is especially beautiful when it is cold and one of the few in the park. It also allows you to see the Almadén trails, one of the most characteristic geological manifestations of the sierra.

Starting from the Fuenmayor recreational area, we begin a path that ascends to the Zurreón waterfall one kilometre further on. Further on, this path offers us beautiful panoramic views of Torres and the cultivated landscape that unfolds around this town and ends up introducing us to a narrow path surrounded by cherry, persimmon and olive trees.

From this path we can easily link up with the end of the Puerto de la Mata uphill path, a pass from which we will enjoy beautiful views of the magnificent Mata Bejid pastureland, completely different from the ones that accompanied us.
