Bedmar preserves its festive cycle based on agricultural tasks with some customs that still persist and others that have been diluted with the passage of time. Thus it is traditional to light bonfires on the eve of San Antón –January 16–, around which chops and popcorn are usually eaten, and over whose flames the waiters jump using sticks and reeds as if they were poles. The same custom of lighting fires existed for San Sebastián and for La Candelaria, where on the eve of this festival the Bedmareños used to go to the countryside to take the "rosca" typical of that day accompanied by beans, which have come to have their tradition together with oil and bacalado for the day of Andalusia.
