Peña de los Buitres CXM Trail Pegalajar Natural
"Peña de los Buitres CXM Trail Pegalajar Natural" is a major mountain running event held in the natural surroundings of Pegalajar. The route passes through some of the municipality’s most representative landscapes, with special prominence given to La Serrezuela and the emblematic Peña de los Buitres, an area associated with the flight of griffon vultures and outdoor sports.
The competition offers different categories adapted to various levels: a 19 km CXM Trail with 997 m of positive elevation gain, a 12.5 km Open race with 650 m of positive elevation gain, and a 12 km hiking route. Its routes, of medium-low difficulty, allow participants to enjoy places such as La Serrezuela de Pegalajar, Siete Pilillas and the Veredón-Mojón Blanco trail.
As part of the Andalusian trail running circuit, this event also serves as the Provincial Mountain Running Championship of Jaén, making the most of the area’s terrain to offer a sporting experience with high technical and scenic value. In its last edition, it brought together 297 participants out of a total of 350 available places.
The event includes specific route signage, chip timing, insurance, refreshment points, a runner’s bag, a final meal, medical service, an ambulance and showers at the finish line.
