Sendero Señalizado Camino Viejo: Tramos Los Cerrillos-San Ginés
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
As a preventive measure to avoid the spread of COVID_19, this path must be traveled in the direction indicated on the start sign.
The Los Cerrillos trail is part of the Camino Viejo, used by pilgrims to go up from Andújar to the Sanctuary of the Virgen de la Cabeza. It starts from the place known as Los Cerrillos and reaches the Chapel of San Ginés, a traditional meeting point for pilgrims.
The path ascends gently from the countryside, crosses areas of cattle pastures and goes into the Sierra, crossing mountains covered with holm oaks, lavender and rockrose. During the flowering season, in the months of April and May, the landscape becomes especially attractive.
It is worth taking this path to be able to contemplate an interesting panoramic view of Andújar and the countryside of the Guadalquivir valley and to cross the narrow paths dug into the slate rocks by the continuous passage of thousands of pilgrims: walkers, cyclists and horsemen

DESCRIPTION
To take this path we must go to the northern part of the urban area of the municipality of Andújar and from the cemetery take the Camino Viejo or Camino de San Amasio. The road is a dirt track with a good surface, up to kilometer 1.9 where the place known as Los Tubos is located, where the track is crossed by a huge tube of the Rumblar Canal.
In the place known as the "Tubos" is located the zero km of the Camino Viejo - Cordel de los Molinos route. From this point on, the track on which we travel has a worse firm, but is passable by all-terrain vehicles for another 900 meters, until we reach a rest area for pilgrims and the trail start sign. The start sign is located next to a metal door that we will have to close to our own to start the trail on foot, on horseback or by bicycle.
