Seeds of nature at El Cantalar Ecotourism Centre and Nature Classroom
Description
The day begins with a walk along the trails near El Cantalar, where the participants observe the local flora in search of fallen seeds and native aromatic plants. After identifying the acorn seeds, he returns to El Cantalar to learn the Japanese technique of "Nendo Dango," created by Fukoka. This technique allows to avoid soil tillage and promotes the natural regeneration of the earth. To make the seed balls, clay and worm fumes are used, which are mixed until a molding paste is obtained. Then small balls of the size of a meatball are formed to cover the acorn seeds and are left to dry in the sun. This technique is used to reforer damaged spaces, and there are two ways to plant these balls: throw them in areas that need reforestation or carry them as a souvenir to plant in a pot. If this last option is chosen, it is enough to semi-bury half the ball on the earth and water it until the clay is undone and the seeds germinate.
