The South Renaissance is born of the commitment to the architectural legacy of the 16th and 17th centuries in the province of Jaén. It was a stage of clarity and splendor in which our horizon was transformed forever, raising the work of Andrés de Vandelvira to the level of the greatest European teachers.
This route is not just a catalogue of monuments; it is an invitation to a cultural experience where the footprint of the past is melted with the warmth of our people and our present.
The Vandelvira Project is the fruit of a historic alliance between the Government of Spain, the Junta de Andalucía, the Provincial Council, our Municipalities and the Diocese of Jaén.
It is also the result of the effort to advance the research, conservation and restoration of the most fundamental milestones that define our identity: Church of the Immaculate (Huelma): A jewel where the stone is made prayer and balance. Fortress de la Mota (Alcalá la Real): The sentinel of the border that today opens our doors to the past. Cathedrals and Palaces: restored spaces for the light of Vandelvira to shine with the same intensity as it did five centuries ago.
The institutions have worked to ensure that this legacy - of light stone and humanist spirit - remains a living, accessible and open heritage to all. Each restored space is conceived as a place to stop, observe and feel: a meeting point for those who seek a journey with soul.
