Columpio Gigante de Torres – Ravine ofl Arroanduelo – Portillo de la Zarzadilla

Short and panoramic circular route in the Torres environment, with an initial rise with character and a comfortable return between benches and olive groves. The tour links traditional paths, open views of the Aznaitín and the Torres River Valley, and small archaeological milestones that explain the historical passage through these Sierra Magina looms. The itinerary begins and ends in the Gigante Pump of Torres, excellent lookout over the valley of the Torres River and the slopes of the massif, with the Aznaitín as a constant reference. From here you take the Senda del Cordel de Castellar, a narrow path that ascends continuously between Mediterranean and scattered pine. The slope is felt from the first meters, but the firm - ground with small stone - allows progress at regular pace. The rise reaches the head of the Barranco del Arroyuelo, a seasonal channel that collects the runways of these loins. The terrain softens slightly as the path advances to half the hillside, bordering the Cerro de la Vieja, between romorals, coscoja and ancient bays where cherry appears. The ascent culminates in the Portillo de la Zarzadilla, a natural step that opens a clean panorama of the Aznaitín and the piedemonte of Magina. From the hill, the route links with the Cañada del Barranco del Cordón to the Puente de la Mata, an old pecuaria route that explains the historical transit through the area. The Cerrillo del Tesoro is very close, where the remains of a fortified enclosure associated with a walled village are documented, visible from the route without any detours. The route then takes the Upper Way of Jimena, which begins a progressive and comfortable descent. This section coincides with the C5 cycling route to the village entrance. The landscape opens between olive groves and cherry benches, overlooking the Torres River Valley and the Serrezuela by closing the horizon, until again reaching the first houses of Torres and closing the circuit in the Gigante Pump. General recommendations Check the weather before departure, especially on windy days on the Portillo. Wear shoes with good grip for the tracks and loose stone, and carry enough water. The initial rise requires a constant rhythm; the descent is comfortable and suitable to finish the route without overloading the legs.
