Amphibian and Reptile Rescue Center

Description

This is a project developed by His Excellency City of Alcalá la Real and managed by the brand "Tu historia," Foundation of Median Cities of the Centre of Andalusia, aimed at promoting basic knowledge about exotic, invasive and our environment, as well as working directly to rescue populations of indigenous species that are threatened, and exotic animals from the pet market (avoiding their uncontrolled release).

Nature interpretation center, and its more than 400 m ² dedicated to the care of the species that inhabit it, taking care of the interest of all people for the animals, offering a series of activities in direct contact with them.

Amphibians and reptiles are key species for maintaining the balance of ecosystems, as they control all animal populations that are considered as pests for humans, as well as acting as prey for other predators of the trophic chain, so their disappearance results in significant environmental problems.

Amphibians: vertebrates with the skin naked and wet and wet, which experience metamorphosis. Mainly indigenous species, those that are within their natural area of distribution, can be observed among others: common green frog (prezi frog), San Antonio Ranita (Hila meridionalis); Gallipato (pleurodeles waltl), endemic species of the Iberian Peninsula.

Reptiles: vertebrates with flake skin, with amniotic eggs that make them independent of water. We find both native and exotic species, those that are outside their natural distribution (for mainly anthropic reasons).
