The half-mountain Sierra de Andújar Natural Park is a magnificent example of Mediterranean ecosystem, as shown by the presence of the Iberian lince. In this environment you can see the largest natural vegetation mountains in Sierra Morena.

The presence of the Iberian lince, its free sighting, the breeding communities in nature and its continuous expansion make the province of Jaén a global reference. The Sierra Morena de Jaén is the best place on the planet to enjoy the Iberian lince and its landscape. Thus, the lince and its ecosystem, become territorial and tourist resources, as well as constitute one of the identity signs of the province, and a reference for the ecotourism segment.

It is not difficult to see in the sky of the Sierra de Andújar natural park the spectacular flights of the royal, perdicular and imperial eagles, the last one on the Iberian Peninsula and which has in this area one of its last shelters. Three carrion species can also be observed: the leonate vulture, the black and the alenoche.

The free meeting with some unique animal species, gives the Sierra de Andújar the environmental quality and attractiveness for the visitors specialized in birdwatching (bird watching) and lynxwatching (lynxwatching), from Spain and especially from central Europe and the United Kingdom. The Sierra de Andújar is located as one of the most quoted destinations in the world, favorite to contemplate in freedom the fauna of the Mediterranean mountain ecosystem.

The traditional management of the Mediterranean dehesa of these mountains has shaped a landscape where agricultural activity is compatible with the highest conservation rates of Iberian fauna, especially of the most sensitive species. The low human presence, the low tourist pressure, in particular, and the general human pressure, make the visit to these countries even more interesting.

Of tourist interest are the Sanctuary of the Virgin of the Head, where each year, by May, is celebrated the oldest Romeria of Spain, the Jandula and Encinarejo reservoirs, the environmental complex Cercado del Ciprés, which has a botanical garden and a classroom of nature, among other facilities, or the Mirador del Peregrino.
