It affects the municipalities of Ibros, Vilches, Rus, Canena, Úbeda, Navas de San Juan and Sabiote, on the slopes of La Lambra Natural Park, in Rus. It is of the compaction type (80% dirt).
The reservoir collects the waters of the Guadalimar River, which belongs to the Guadalquivir River Basin.
