Description
The Laguna tower, called by others from Zarracotín, is located to the north, three kilometres from Génave, towards Sierra Morena and Ciudad Real.
During the Islamic period it was a fundamental enclave in the advanced position strategy both to emit signs of fires and fumes, and to house a garrison that could prevent troop movements and protect nearby villages from Christian attacks.
Before time irreversibly deteriorated this tower was an effective defensive element for the severity of its construction and the strength of its stones. With rectangular floor, it was built in argamase tapial. The remains of other walls that could be part of the wall surrounding this tower can still be seen nearby. Its constructive structure and technique is very similar to many other strengths of the Sierra de Segura. In 1985 this property was declared Good of Cultural Interest.
