Cortijo El Madroño (Agromaquinaria Virgen de la Soledad)

Description

Located in the middle of a sea of olive trees, 8 kilometres from Martos, El Madroño is before the year 1890 and reflects the Andalusian rural life of past times. The families living in the cortijo had everything they needed: carpentry, hardware, bakery, school, in addition to stables for horses, mules, pigs, sheep, hens, etc.

Located in Martos (Jaén), the municipality that produces the most olive oil in the World, will find among a sea of olive trees this 19th century cortijo in the heart of the Nazarí route, near Jaén and halfway between Córdoba and Granada. It has an outstanding oil factory and together with its museum you will be able to know the evolution of the production processes of liquid gold through history as well as enjoy a unique landscape, taste the miller breakfast, make a tasting of various types of oil, delight with equestrian or flamenco shows while enjoying a delicious meal or dinner. Acordinated by a gilded tapial belt, it is a complex of courtyards, noble house and agricultural dependencies with a garden mixed with Arabian courtyard and Carmen granadino, which hosts an octagonal fountain, originating from the Granadina house of Empress Eugenia de Montijo. Shortly after the complete restoration of its old facilities, the work on the recovery of the hermitage began in 2008. The design of the Chapel, as well as the drawings of the altarpiece and ceramic altar, are by Armando Pareja Tello, of Baroque ornamental style, with a symbol of César Ripa. The Cortijo El Madroño has now become one of the most popular national spaces for the celebration of events, banquets, flamenco shows and has been the stage, for its excellent architecture, of numerous television programs and advertising.
