Journey to the Middle Ages: Dramatised Visit to Baños de la Encina Castle

Few places allow visitors to understand medieval history as directly as Burgalimar Castle, one of the oldest fortresses in Europe. In this activity, schoolchildren explore the interior of the fortress accompanied by historical characters who explain, in an engaging and participatory way, what life was like on the frontier between Christian and Muslim kingdoms.
The experience combines historical interpretation, dramatisation and participatory activities, allowing students to become protagonists in a journey back in time. Through role play and short reenactments, they will discover how castles were defended, how life was organised within the fortress, and how important this site was in the history of the Kingdom of Jaén.
