Patron Saint Festivities of Nuestro Padre Jesús de la Columna
Description
Devotion to Jesús de la Columna, patron saint of Torres, began when two strangers arrived in the town and lodged in an old, uninhabited house. After several days without seeing the visitors, residents entered the house and found a carved figure of Christ scourging himself, which they moved to the parish church for worship. In his honour, patron saint festivities are held around 21 September, notable for their lively night-time open-air dances.
