Jaén Senior +65 Program: a unique way to discover your province

The deadline for registration in the third edition of the travel programme is opened on 11 January 2024Jaén Sénior + 65.

During 2024, travel will take place for a duration of 3 days / 2 nights in full pension.

Once again, 1,500 Jiennenses over 65 years of age will be able to enjoy the innumerable tourist offer offered by the province.

Registration shall be open until 19 February 2024.

The services included in the trip are:

• Hotel accommodation with minimum 3 star category in double room to share. Possibility of individual room, subject to program availability.
• Full pension.
• Bus transport.
• Guide to the whole trip.
• Entries, guided tours and animation activities.
• Collective insurance policy.

The requirements for participation are:

• To be over 65.
• To be registered in a municipality of less than 20,000 inhabitants.

The 9 routes that make up the third edition of Jaén Sénior are:

Route 1. South Renaissance

Journey to the monumental cities of Ubeda and Baeza. Two cities full of history, where time stops and the legacy of stone gives them the distinctive "World Heritage." Churches, palaces and museums in an urban environment surrounded by the Jiennense olive tree. The trip also includes a visit to the historic set of Sabiote and its great castle.

Route 2. Linares mining district - La Carolina

In the programming of this trip, the visit is planned to the former mining district of Linares- La Carolina, where, in addition to knowing this important legacy, we will enjoy cultural visits to the city of Linares, to the archaeological complex of Catulo and to La Carolina, the cradle of the great illustrated project of the New Populations. The program is completed with a visit to the Museum of the Battle of the Navas de Tolosa in Santa Elena.

Route 3. Jaén, the capital of the Inner Paradise

Journey to enjoy the cultural heritage of the city of Jaén, visiting the Cathedral of Santa Maria, the Arab Baths and the Castle of Santa Catalina. There will be a tour of its historic centre, with unforgettable corners, the sum of a large number of churches, convents and solarium houses. In addition, for the knowledge of the Ibero legacy is included the visit to the Ibero Museum, the Provincial Museum and the archaeological enclave of Puente Tablas.

Route 4. Castles and Battle. North

Tour the northern part of the route of the Castles and the Battle. The historical-artistic ensemble of Baños de la Encina and the castle of Burgalimar, one of the most important and ancient of the Iberian Peninsula, as well as the museums of two great battles, the Museum of the Battle of the Navas de Tolosa and the Museum of the Battle of Bailén, will be visited. In addition, there is a visit to Aldeaquemada where the Pablo de Olavide Interpretation Centre and the Natural Area of the Cascade of La Cimbarra are located.

Route 5. South of the Natural Park Sierras de Cazorla, Segura and Las Villas

With 200,000 hectares, this Natural Park is one of the most extensive protected areas in Spain and the second in Europe. A vast forest, with a great wealth of flora and fauna, where many villages and corners are full of history and poetry. The trip includes a solar boat tour of the El Tranco reservoir and low-intensity hiking activity in the Borosa River area. In addition, cultural visits will be made to the historical group of Cazorla, to the Sepulcral Chamber of Toya, in Peal de Becerro, as well as to the municipality of Quesada where the Zabaleta Museum is located.

Route 6. North of the Natural Park Sierras de Cazorla, Segura and Las Villas

The Sierras de Cazorla, Segura and the Villas are the largest forest mass in Spain, hosting an immense biodiversity as well as villages and villages of traditional architecture. There will be an incursion to the heart of the Park, with a solar boat tour of the El Tranco reservoir, as well as a train of the Collado del Almond Cinegetic Park. The trip also includes visits to the historic set of Segura de la Sierra and the village of Beas de Segura.

Route 7. Sierra Magina

The Natural Park of Sierra Mágina houses a wide variety of landscapes ranging from the highest peaks of the province to the forests of complaints and encinars. Its peoples treasure a rich ethnographic heritage. The route includes a visit to the Adelfar and Sanctuary of the Cuadros River in Bedmar. In addition, cultural visits to the historical set of Huelma, to Cambil, to Torres and to the Centre for the Interpretation of the Faces of Belgium.

Route 8. Route of the Castles and the Battle. South

Journey to discover the south of the Route of the Castles and the Battle, visiting imposing medieval fortifications such as the Fortress of the Mota in Alcalá la Real, the Calatravo Castle of Alcaudete and the Castle of Santa Catalina in Jaén. From its atalayas we can enjoy beautiful panoramic views of the province. In addition, it is planned to visit the historical centres of the three localities.

Route 9. Sierra de Andújar Natural Park

A tour of the Sierra Morena jiennense, where the Iberian lince inhabits along with other species such as deer, boars, black storks or otters. A trip where cultural visits and nature are combined. It is planned to visit the Sanctuary of the Virgin of the Head, the town of Baños de la Encina, Andújar and Arjona. The program also includes a low-intensity excursion around the Encinarejo.

In order to be able to participate in the travel programme, interested parties must complete the form corresponding to the region where they are registered and deliver it, together with documentation.which is indicated in: the Registry of its City Council, at the Electronic Headquarters of the Diputación de Jaénwww.sede.diputaen.esin the Register of the Diputación located in the Provincial Palace in Jaén capital, or through the other means that the regulations admit.

After all the inscriptions have been received and after the relevant correction period, a public draw shall be made in which two balls shall be randomly drawn. Each shall contain a letter from the abecedary. These two letters will determine the last name from which the squares are to be assigned for each route.
