Welcome to the Collado del Almendral Wildlife Park, a 100-hectare area located in the heart of the Cazorla, Segura y las Villas Natural Park. This park has been created with the purpose of preserving the fauna of our mountains, as well as environmental conservation and education, it is an open-air classroom where we can learn about the natural resources that this great Park has, and for this It has a group of monitors who make your visit a pleasant and enjoyable time.
Information
The visit begins at the Interpretation Center where we put at your disposal all the necessary services: showroom, shop and cafeteria, continuing with the guided tour in our tourist train, for a route of approximately 5 km and where we can contemplate in semi-freedom deer, fallow deer, mouflon, mountain goat and the Moorish roe deer in the process of being reintroduced. During the journey, the guide will disclose the morphological characteristics of each species at the different stops that are made on the route (approximately 45 minutes long), as well as the places that will be left behind during the journey.
Then you will be able to enjoy a walking route of approximately 3 km (round trip) visiting the viewpoints of the “Bujaraiza Castle”, located approximately 400 meters from the exit (normal difficulty) where you will see the Moorish roe deer, reintroduced in this Park a few months ago and being the only specimens in the entire Sierra. Our second viewpoint, "De las Ánimas", 750 meters from the exit (normal difficulty) in whose viewpoint you can enjoy not only the magnificent views of the Tranco Swamp but also the exhibition of birds of prey such as Harris Eagle, Black Owl, Lechuza Common, Eagle Owl, Peregrine Falcon, Tawny Owl, Little Owl, Common Kestrel, Red-footed Kestrel, as well as the breeding and reproduction of the fox in the facilities adapted for this purpose.
From the route of our path, and for those who love to walk through the countryside, the route can continue to the last viewpoint "Garita Collado del Almendral" at 425 meters from the Mirador de las Ánimas, this already of medium-high difficulty and from which You will be able to enjoy the old fire guardhouse completely restored and equipped for rest (with tables and chairs for picnics, talks, workshops, etc.) and a telescope that allows you to see the highest points of the orography of the Cazorla Natural Park , Segura and the Villas such as Las Banderillas, Peña Mosgo, Puerto de las Palomas, Cabeza Rubia, El Cubo, Mulón de la Campana, Pollo Segura de Pontones, Pantano del Tranco, Morro de los Arenales, Cerro del Espino, etc.
On this tour they can spend as much time as they wish and also enjoy during it the observation of the more than 60 varieties of Mediterranean flora that are identified throughout the journey with their corresponding identification signs, as well as the art of wooden sculptures a life-size that the artist José Llorente made on the path of access to birds of prey using the chainsaw as the only work tool.
The entire visit (train plus footpath) lasts approximately 2 hours.
