Frogs and toads sleep half buried during the hours of heat, while their young people go from aquatic to terrestrial life in the amazing process of metamorphosis.
Although the forest birds are silent, it is a delight to hear the sound of swallows and common planes fluttering over the roofs of the village at dawn and at sunset, to be replaced at night by the tireless singing of the crickets.
The mammals do not feel very comfortable with the heat, so their life is quite peaceful during the day. The choreto liron even leaks in its mura - madriguer- until it refresh. The females of the deer and the mountain goats control their recentals - young people who are still breastfeeding - without too many outbursts, and concentrate their activity at night and at dawn. The peel of the boars is losing their stripes to become reddish, under the restless look of the squirrels, who in the pines' cup already take care of their second annual litter.
Sports activities
During the day, the heat of summer makes us think of the many possibilities offered by the water areas of the park. All villages have municipal pools whose prices are very affordable. The rivers, canyons or reservoirs allow you to do sport in the most refreshing environment of all, but it is important that you report on the specific activity you want to do through the Environmental Council or authorized companies, as there are areas where the degree of protection is not compatible with these uses. The rafting, kayak or pyragüism are very popular in the Guadalquivir, downstream of the Tranco dam, especially between June and August, when the reservoir is further draining. You can make horse routes, or also original night, walk or mountain bike excursions, organized to enjoy the freshness of those hours. And if you are one of those who need to feel the adrenaline, in the Sierra de Segura you will be able to discover the park in view of a bird, with flights in a paraglider or paraglider.
Astronomical observation
The park presents the best conditions for the observation of the sky and the discovery of mysterious and distant stars. If you have your own equipment for observation you only have to choose a place away from important sources of light, but if you want to enter this exciting world you can go to the Sierra de Las Villas where the new Astronomical Outreach Centre in the unitary school of La Fresnedilla organizes numerous activities throughout the year, especially in summer (only after appointment).
Music, festivals, verbenas
In summer, coinciding many times with the local park parties, you will find reasons to enjoy the night outdoors. In July, the Cazorla and Segura districts organized events where music is one of the indispensable protagonists (see International Air Festival - FIA- and Blues Cazorla). And throughout the station you can know the popular songs and dances of different villages and villages visiting their parties. It will be difficult if you visit the park in summer, not to match some popular party.
The Syrian bowling
This curious game is practiced in all the areas that are part of the natural park. It is an ancient game of origin - at least from the XVth century - and oral tradition has allowed its activity to recover, enjoying today's fame and respect throughout our territory. In summer, and autumn there are championships in many locations - Orcera, Beas de Segura, Pozo Alcón, Cazorla, Mogón, among others. It is another interesting way to deepen the knowledge of the Serbian customs and people will be happy to teach you how to play. The Federation of the Andean Bolo-Bolo Serrano is based in the park. Get close to this sport, probably the only indigenous Andalusian sport.
