Description

The restoration works that are putting in value the fortress have generated a center of interpretation, where the visitor can know the historical evolution of the building, from its origin as alcázar almohade, through the transformations developed by the Calatravos friars and the construction of a new castle, equipped with the necessary rooms to develop in it, a comfortable life; to conclude with the construction inside of the palace of the lords of the villa.

Its objective is to know first-hand, the origin and history of the Military Order of Calatrava, the function of a castle on the border with the Nazarí kingdom of Granada, the way of life and internal structure of the Order, and finally, the wenches of war used both for the assault and for the defense of a fortress, as well as the manual and personal weaponry, most used by the freires or Monjes- knights.
