Description
Research is currently being carried out at the Cerro de la Muela, together with the University of Jaén, with the aim of putting its wall to value, although the site is not accessible at this time.
The oppidum (6th and 3rd centuries BC) occupies an area of approximately 14 hectares. The excavations have identified a fortification, domestic units, ceramics and weapons.
The Cerro de la Muela was the site of the ancient Iberian city of Iliturgi, destroyed in 206 BC during the Roman conquest, in the context of the Second Punic War.
