Hill of la Coronilla

LUGAR DE INTERÉS

Description

The Cerro de la Coronilla, located in the cortijo of the Atalaya, where the first major settlement of Cazalilla has been identified, configured thanks to its height as an integral element of a strategic defensive system of the area in the Copper Age. It is a small fortified enclosure with a control and deterrence function in the middle of the countryside.

The Coronilla has now become a prominent archaeological site from which important pieces have been extracted, some of which are exhibited in the Ibero Museum of Jaén. It is an orza, a closed clay container for domestic use.
