Description

In the afternoons, Machado used to attend the gatherings held in the pharmacy of Don Adolfo Almazán, a gymnastics teacher at the institute and mayor of the city in 1914.The original building of the Almazán pharmacy was located on San Francisco street, in front of the old Franciscan convent. The pharmacy was in operation until the seventies of the 20th century. It was later closed and the building where it was located was demolished. In those meetings, although the poet usually remained silent and listened to others, they talked about politics, the countryside and the weather. Some gatherings where Machado attended with the pharmacist's friends: the doctor, some councilor, the director of the institute, some lawyer, the notary, the registrar and the secretary of the institute.
